And so it begins....

It's finally here. D day. Or should we say T day.

Quick reminder of what's on at day 1 of Thespo at Prithvi Theatre:
Free events:
6pm: Live band performance by Froydn Slip.
7pm: A staged reading of excerpts from brand new play called THE DARKLING.
8:15pm: A movement based performance piece called 180 Degrees.

Ticket event:
9pm; Chakra: A play set in a time before language. Visually stunning, powerful and humorous all at the same time.

See you there.

Curtain ready to be raised!

So the final pre-event of the festival has finally ended. Over 600 people turned up for the final curtain raiser at Mega Mall. The madness of the chanting and the awesome performances really made the whole the mall come alive. Clearly the malls are the new streets.

Now it's all guns on the main festival. We are burning the midnight oil. The decor team is working hard as we type this. Rehearsals are in full swing.

Theatre is truly striking back!

Thespo 12 skids!

Hello all,

This is Vidisha from Team Thespo and I'm blogging for the first time here.

Last night I just dropped the festival. My bike skid with Toral (she who carries it all!) sitting behind! But... it's all good now.

Phew!

And yes, Theatre strikes back in 3 days!

Workshops Begin!

So the first workshop of the festival has kicked off. Jack Lowe, jet-lagged and without baggage (his bags got lost on his flight in) is working with 7 dancer/actors at the Arts in Motion Studio in Sion. The workshop is going to culminate in a movement based performance to called 180 Degrees to be staged on the opening day of Thespo 12.

Curtain Raisers Kick Off

The countdown to Thespo 12 has begun.
2 Curtain Raisers at Mega Mall by Team Thespo this weekend, gave people a sneak peak of what is expected at the festival. Papier Mache Petals' brilliant musicians jammed a bit and Tariq Vasudeva brought the house down with his diatribe about theatre. Then today Tariq performed a mad monologue and Sohail Khan a short play, watched by over a hundred people. Who says you need an auditorium for theatre to happen!
Next curtain raisers are at Mega Mall, Oshiwara on the 10th, 11th and 12th of December. 7pm. Be there to check out the sneak peak to all the Thespo 12 performances.
Thespo 12, Theatre strikes back....you never know where.
